A love letter to Compton - a new book by Rosy Burke
We're excited to announce that we're now selling 'Compton - from the skies to the seas - a love letter to the landscape' - by Rosy Burke.
Rosy’s parents bought The Old Coach House in Brook in the 1950s. Ancestors had lived there and her mother felt very at home on the old estate. She has two sisters who live on West Wight and visits frequently.
During lockdown, Rosy was stuck in the Midlands in Banbury and dreamt up her first photo book all about Compton, the thoughts of which kept her going.
She writes in poetry prose and would like you to feel you are in the landscape with her, on the top of the downs with the blue butterflies, or down on the beach splashing in the surf. She tells stories she has gathered from Islanders in the landscape, fascinating, informative and funny.
Rosy won the Judges Prize in the BBC Countryfile Photo Competition in 2005 with ‘Fun in the Waves’ a picture of bathers running away from the crashing waves at Freshwater Bay.
